Practical guidance for workers and families planning a safe, informed move to Mumbai.
Travelling to Mumbai for work is a major decision. Before buying a ticket, confirm the job information in writing and make a simple first-week plan. A genuine opportunity should be explained in plain language, including the role, location, shift, pay and joining process.
Confirm the job before you travel
Ask for the employer name, workplace address or area, reporting person, shift timing, expected pay and joining date. Clarify whether food, stay, uniform, transport or any other cost is included. Keep screenshots or written messages so that you can refer to the terms later.
Protect your money and documents
Keep travel money, emergency cash and your return option separate. Do not share an OTP, ATM PIN, UPI PIN or password with anyone. Do not pay an employer for an interview or a promised appointment. If a service provider charges a fee, read the service agreement, refund terms and grievance contact before paying.
Make a safe arrival plan
Share your travel details with a family member, save the workplace and stay address offline, and carry a charged phone. On arrival, meet only at the agreed public or workplace location. If the job, pay or location changes suddenly, pause and ask questions before joining.
